The repress of Departures debut 12” ‘When Losing Everything Is Everything You Wanted’ has arrived! Pink w/ orange splatter and ‘cherry cola’ coloured vinyl; the band will have these on their tour next week with Balance And Composure/ Pianos Become The Teeth/ Seahaven.

Sweet little review of Carrion Spring’s LP that’s in the new issue of A Short Fanzine About Rocking. You can buy it here and also from us once our copies have arrived!

CARRION SPRING – ‘A Short History of Decay’ (Fist in the Air) LUKE MCGUIRE

This is a repress of Portland, OR’s (are they characters from Portlandia? I hope so) Carrion Spring, and consists of 15 tracks of intense screamo cut across 40 discordant minutes. I can’t pretend to be anything of an expert in this genre, as it’s never really appealed to me directly, but on first listen I can appreciate the subtleties of Carrion Spring’s own brand of loud/quiet juxtapositioning. If you are a fan of the UK’s Crocus you will find something to enjoy here, or indeed (perhaps not directly comparable) Touché Amoré fans will be able to find elements of both the music and overall aesthetic that appeal to them. Musically I find this record most interesting when it steps back from the scream template and becomes more eerie/introspective, and indeed it is the instrumentals of ‘Selah I – VI’ that appeal to me most. Regardless, this is an effective take on screamo/emo/whatever the hell label you want to give it, and one that fans of the genre would do well to pick up.

The Carrion Spring 12” sleeves arrived today! They look fantastic, huge thank you to Vino Sangre for printing them for us.

The red/ pink/ white sleeves are limited to 20 and the white are out of 80. Still a couple of the limited ones left so if you’re interested head to our store. You can stream and download the album for whatever amount you want to (even if you want to pay nothing) here.

Preorders will ship tomorrow evening once I’ve finished work (real life sux). And the enjoyable task of folding all 100 of these starts now. FUN.

We are extremely proud to announce that we will be releasing the incredible Carrion Spring album ‘A Short History Of Decay’ on vinyl! Originally released last year as download only, it has been remixed/ mastered with brand new artwork and 3 new songs! Colour vinyl, screen printed artwork, tshirts, free stream, preorders; all the good stuff is to follow in the next few weeks.

Our new friends BEAR Records and Forever Escaping Boredom will be releasing it in the US. Fans of Beau Navire/ Saetia/ We Were Skeletons take note, you’re going to love this LP!
